Spring: measured feeding
Broward County restricts nitrogen and phosphorus fertilizer on lawns from June 1 through September 30 and keeps it ten feet back from any lake or canal, so the feeding that carries a lawn through summer has to go down before June. Bahia and St. Augustine get separate rates.
June: mole crickets while they're small
Mole cricket nymphs are most vulnerable in June. Treating Bahia then prevents the tunneling damage that shows up in late summer.
Fall: potassium and ant control
Potassium in October hardens both turf types for the dry season; fall is also prime time for perimeter fire ant treatment.
