Pompano Beach's Trusted Weed Control & Fertilization Team

Pompano Beach lawns split at Federal Highway. East of it, sandy coastal soil, salt spray and older 1950s-60s homes with small yards and a lot of palms. West of I-95, Palm Aire's golf-course community and Cypress Bend's condo grounds sit on more forgiving soil with mature trees and lake edges.

Coastal turf here needs potassium, salt-tolerant palm nutrition and irrigation that flushes rather than sips. Inland turf needs the standard Broward calendar with extra attention to fungus under the canopy. We run both on the same route day.

What Pompano Beach Lawns Are Up Against

Salt spray east of Federal

Wind-borne salt burns leaf tips and dries turf even when the soil is wet. Potassium-forward feeding, deeper less frequent irrigation and salt-tolerant palm fertilizer keep the beach blocks green.

Pure sand

Coastal lots are nearly pure sand with little organic matter. Nutrients leach fast, so slow-release products and more frequent light applications beat one heavy feeding.

Nematodes

Sandy coastal soils host sting and lance nematodes that thin St. Augustine from the roots down. Soil testing confirms them; the fix is root-zone health, proper watering and, where warranted, nematicide.

Golf-community standards inland

Palm Aire lawns are compared to the fairways next door. Full pre-emergent, sedge control and chinch-bug scouting keep them there.

Timing matters

Getting the Timing Right in Pompano Beach

February: pre-emergent and soil samples

Pre-emergent by mid-February. Coastal lots get soil sampled at the same time for pH, salts and nematodes.

Spring: feed before the June blackout

Broward County restricts nitrogen and phosphorus fertilizer on lawns from June 1 through September 30 and keeps it ten feet back from any lake or canal, so the feeding that carries a lawn through summer has to go down before June.

Hurricane season: salt and debris

From June, storm surge and wind-driven salt hit the beach blocks. After any storm the turf needs a fresh-water flush and the palms a look for damage before the next feeding.

Dry season: irrigation discipline

November to April is when coastal lawns actually need the two watering days. Run times get reset and large-patch prevention goes down in November.
